Puenzo, Varela Boarding “La Mujer Infinita”

Leonor Varela

BN Films has tapped Argentinian writer-director Lucia Puenzo to co-write and direct a Spanish-language feature adaptation of  Jose Ignacio Valenzuela’s “La Mujer Infinita.”

Leonor Varela will star as of Tina Modotti,  an Italian photographer, model, actress and political activist in the early 20th century.

Alex Garcia and Lucas Akoskin of BN Films are producing. They plan to begin shooting at the end of the year.

Puenzo will collaborate with Valenzuela on adapting the book, based on the life of  Modotti.  Puenzo is in post production on her third feature “Wakolda,” which will open in Argentina, France and Spain in May.

BN Films, based in Santa Monica and Mexico City, was launched in December. It’s developing “El Cartel to los Sapos,” “Words with Gods” and “The Jesuit,” penned by Paul Shrader with Tim Roth and Brian Cox attached to star.
