Exclusive Media has inked deals with CCC for Japan, Lusomundo for Portugal, Front Row for the Middle East and Nu Metro in South Africa.
Pic had already sold to Koch in U.K., Metropolitan in Gaul, RAI in Italy and MGN in Russia.
“Parkland,” which toplines Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Paul Giamatti, Colin Hanks and Jacki Weaver, chronicles the chaotic events that occurred in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, the day that President Kennedy was assassinated.
Pic, which is named after Parkland Hospital in Dallas where Kennedy died, marks the directorial debut from journalist and novelist Peter Landesman, who also penned the script.
Landesman spent five years developing and researching the story, which is based on the tome “Four Days in November,” by Vincent Bugliosi.
The combination of first-timer Landesman coupled with experienced producers like Hanks and Goetzman made the project all the more appealing to Exclusive.
The outfit, which is also releasing the pic domestically on Nov. 22 (the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s death), opted to fully finance the pic with the American Film Co.
“The excitement for us when we first got involved is that this is a world event that everyone is familiar with,” said Exclusive president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton. “It touches on American royalty and there is a wonderful amount of mystery that surrounds this enigmatic character.”
Walton said it’s fitting that the pic is premiering in Venice, noting that RAI in Italy was one of the first distribs to snap up the pic.
“European territories really embraced this film,” he said, pointing to Italy, France and Blighty.
Walton added: “We are honored to be in Venice. The festival has had a repositioning about putting cinematic films on a pedestal.
“We really believed in this filmmaker and responded to his vision and the fact that this was embraced by a major cinematic festival is a great opportunity to validate the film as an international event.”
“Parkland” will be having its North American premiere in Toronto in September.
