Paramount Greenlights Platinum Dunes Pic ‘Almanac’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Michael Bay will produce found-footage time travel movie with Dean Israelite helming

Paramount has given the greenlight to the found footage pic “Almanac,” hoping for a “Chronicle”-like success.

Michael Bay will produce through his Platinum Dunes banner along with his partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, with Dean Israelite making his directorial debut.

Plot details are under wraps other than the film would have a mockumentary angle centered around time travel.

Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan penned the script. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will exec produce.

Par has been high on this project since picking it up last October and was keen on getting it fast-tracked before DreamWorks “Glimmer,” another found footage time-travel pic, goes into pre-production.

Casting is already underway, with the studio looking for unknowns to fill the roles.

Though Bay is known best for directing big-budget tentpoles, Platinum Dunes taken on a range of varying properties. The banner has the $2 million budgeted thriller “Purge” coming out next month and is currently in pre-production on the reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
Bay and Platinum Dunes are repped by WME. Israelite is repped by Principato-Young.
