Pair of Inferno companies dissolved

Sought bankruptcy protection amid legal dispute over 'Just Friends'

“Killing Them Softly” exec producer Inferno Intl. and Inferno Distribution have been dissolved, six months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Sales and production companies Inferno Films and Inferno Features remain in business and their film productions have not been affected, a company spokeswoman said Friday.

Inferno Intl. and Inferno Distribution filed for bankruptcy in Los Angeles, citing a need to sort out legal disputes including a large judgment against the companies over the 2005 romantic comedy “Just Friends.”

“The filings were necessary to protect the value of the companies and to restructure operations in those entities while the appeal can be decided,” the companies said at the time.

Inferno Distribution and Inferno Intl. arranged production financing along with licensing and distributing rights to movies in international markets. Other Inferno Intl. pics include “The Kids Are All Right” and “Killer Elite.”
