Nickelsburg and Chupack (“Sex and the City”) were honored at Sunday’s awards ceremony, hosted by Wayne Brady. More than 1,000 films submitted for the festival.
Tyler Spindel earned the best comedy short kudo for “Love & Germaphobia,” while Mickey Dwyer won honors for top comedy animated short for “Pool Cat” and Stephen Cedars, Benji Kleiman, Scott Yacyshyn (“Don’t Walk”) did the same for, as the fest calls it, best comedy shortie-short.
The best of fest grand prize short was “Penny Dreadful,” written and directed by Shane Atkinson. The breakthrough award went to Woodhead Entertainment’s Tony Yacenda, director of “Timmy Muldoon” and “The Search of Shadoweyes Bandit,” and the comedy student short honor went to “Cupid,” written and directed by John Dion and produced by Mallory Snyder.
