Relativity has dated Natalie Portman’s “Jane Got a Gun” for U.S. release on Aug. 29, 2014.

Gavin O’Connor directed “Jane,” after replacing Lynne Ramsay on the Western. Ramsay departed in March just before shooting was to start in New Mexico.

“Gun,” penned by Brian Duffield, stars Portman as a woman who asks an ex-lover for help to save her outlaw husband (played by Noah Emmerich) from a gang out to kill him. Joel Edgerton plays the ex-lover and Ewan McGregor plays the leader of the gang.

Two other releases have been set for Aug. 29 — Universal’s thriller “The Loft” and Lionsgate’s horror film “Jessabelle.”

We need a good western n theaters soon, it’s been too long since “Django unchained” and “the Lone Ranger” didn’t do the genre any favors.
