Locking in an awards-season push, Entertainment One has set a Nov. 1 U.S. opening for “Diana,” the Princess Diana movie starring Naomi Watts, from Embankment Films and Ecosse Films.
“Diana,” which focuses on the last two years of the British monach’s life, is produced by Ecosse Films’ Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae. “Diana,” directed by “Downfall” helmer Oliver Hirschbiegel, is currently in post-production.
Written by Stephen Jeffreys, the movie explores the Princess Diana’s relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, portrayed by Naveen Andrews (“Lost”).
eOne acquired U.S. rights to “Diana” during Cannes. It’s also handling the U.K. releases.
