Pic's directors aim to push envelope of inappropriate laughs

Relativity preemed “Movie 43″ on Jan. 23 at the Chinese, and afterward guests Gerard Butler, Chloe Grace Moretz and others stepped next door and out of the rain into Madame Tussauds for the afterparty. There, among the wax figures, Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley schmoozed with guests including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and director-producer Peter Farrelly.

Farrelly is just one of the film’s dozen helmers, who include Elizabeth Banks and Brett Ratner.

Farrelly admitted that he and his company pushed a few envelopes. “We just were trying to make people laugh,” he said. “So we gave each director as much leeway as they wanted to accomplish that.”

Producer Charles Wessler, who helped develop the many scripts, cited “Kentucky Fried Movie” as a big inspiration. “I wanted to make a movie like that one day and that’s what we set out to make and I think it shows onscreen.”
