Mister Smith goes to Paris, adds to team

Finance, sales house continues to expand

LONDON — Mister Smith Entertainment chief executive David Garrett announced four key appointments Wednesday that see the fast-expanding finance and sales company establish a Paris office in addition to its London and L.A. bases.

Jill Jones will join MSE as exec VP of marketing and publicity, a role she most recently filled at Lionsgate. Prior to her role at Lionsgate she worked with Garrett at Summit Entertainment where she handled the international release of the “Twilight” franchise. Jones, who will be based in both Paris and London, will oversee MSE’s international marketing operations.

Joining Jones’ team are Pamela Godwin-Austen as senior VP international publicity and Andrew Boyd as senior VP international marketing. The pair’s key responsibility will focus on the DreamWorks Studios slate with both working out of MSE’s L.A. office, based at DreamWorks.

Mister Smith signed a deal in August to handle licensing and servicing for all media across Europe, Middle East and Africa of DreamWorks Studios’ product.

The DreamWorks slate includes “Delivery Man,” starring Vince Vaughn; WikiLeaks drama “The Fifth Estate,” which is in production; and “Need for Speed,” which is set to lense in April.

Jones’ team also includes Annasivia Britt, who continues in her London-based role as VP marketing and publicity.

Tracy McCrory will also join the MSE team as executive VP of delivery and servicing, based in London. McCrory previously served as VP distribution services at Colony Capital Investors (Miramax) and VP of international distribution services for Warner Bros.

McCrory and Jones will report direct to Garrett.

The appointments follow news this week that Mister Smith had brokered new multi-year output agreements for DreamWorks’ films with distribs in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Greece, Croatia/Slovania/Serbia, Iceland, Israel, Turkey and the Baltic states.

Launched in May 2012 as a joint venture between Garrett and German production and distrib company Constantin, Film Mister Smith’s slate includes Constantin’s “The Mortal Instruments: City of God,” starring Lily Collins; Inimitable Pictures’ “Imagine,” starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore; romcom “Love, Rosie,” also starring Collins alongside Sam Claflin; and “3,096 Days,” based on the true story of Austrian kidnap victim Natascha Kampusch.
