Michael Bay On ‘Transformers’ Attack: ‘It Was Like a Zombie in Brad Pitt’s Movie World War Z’

Michael Bay has confirmed online reports that he and his crew were nearly attacked on the set of “Transformers 4.”

“Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent asses to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong,” the director wrote on his blog.

“It was like a zombie in Brad Pitt’s movie ‘World War Z’ — he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them.”

Bay was referring to the vendor who stormed onto the set of his movie early Thursday and wielded an air conditioner unit in the direction of his head.

“Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it — we were not going to let him extort us. He didn’t like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked, threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That’s when the security jumped on him.”

Paramount also confirmed that no cast or crew member was injured in the matter.

“It took 15 Hong Kong cops in riot gear to deal with these punks,” Bay said.

“He (the vendor) actually bit into one of the guard’s Nike shoe. Insane. Thank god it was an Air Max — the bubble popped, but the toe was saved.”

  3. Julienne says:

Egomaniac is more like it! Bay’s so full of crap, it’s ridiculous! I wish that vendor would’ve connected with his empty noggin and knocked some common decency into him…because Bay’s got none.

  4. DorothyParkerlite says:

Oh, mBay, managing to do product placement while discussing your real life action sequence confirms you as the epic sell-out you are.

  5. AnimeDose says:

Whoa, attacked? Seriously? By an angry vendor with an air conditioner? That’s horrible, but also a little funny. What was the guy thinking? Hopefully the reports are true and nobody got hurt. It’s ridiculous that they wanted FOUR TIMES what everyone else got. Greedy much?

    • Kepa says:

Apparently, the vendors weren’t paid enough to cover the loss in business. How is that greedy? Article is a bit one sided. Riot gear? It was a few cops in normal uniform. Someone is exaggerating a bit methinks.

  6. Attractive component to content. I just stumbled upon your weblog and in accession capital to say that I

  7. Alex says:

Vendors are getting paid $130 on daily bases and the lucky ones involving stunts are getting $400. $3000 is just for site rental and that’s the cost per day for a consecutive of 4 days. Get the facts right dah…!

  8. Mason says:

Alex, get your facts straight. Police said the vendor and his brother wanted nearly $13,000, so 1/4 of that, Bay and company are paying each vendor around $3,000. You wouldn’t beat the crap out of anyone, tough guy. This “vendor” sounds like he was on bath salts, attacking people with large home appliances, and you’re defending him? You’re a winner.

  9. Alex says:

Totally concur with Bob. Most of the local vendors are getting a lousy US$130 per day for the compensation of Bay’s another lousy film… I would beat the crap out of Bay too!

Think you should get your facts straight mate. Local news sites are reporting meager compensation. Nowhere near USD 3,000. That said, this guy and his brother were acting like idiots.

  10. Matt Toomb says:

What a bad ass! Bay smacked the AC unit away and kicked that local mobster’s butt into next week- even if most of the blows were landed by security. He probably stood over the guy before hand and said in a gravely voice: “I’m here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I’m all out of bubblegum…”

    Bring on T4 and Unicron!

  11. si says:

heroic food vendors tryin to save the world from another awful Michael bay transformer movie would make a better movie than another awful Michael bay transformer movie

  12. Bob says:

  17. RVJ says:

May be he just saw Bay’s earliers Movies…. that behaviour is justified then.

  18. Bob says:

This seems like Karma. Michael Bay seems to always disregard human decency and morals in order to make a formulaic action movie. May it be continuously not caring about crew or background safety on his movies, to the point that the background performers gets put in a coma and has permanent brain damage. Or being a guest in foreign country and disregarding the subjects and locations that you are using as imagery to make a profit on.

  19. Mark Olsen says:

nice mike!! there,s script in that you should use in transformers, where someone throws a acunit at somebodys head, and bumble bee comes in and crushes the #$%# hole
