Melissa McCarthy Tapped CinemaCon Honor

Award for 'Female Star of the Year' set for April 18

Melissa McCarthy has been chosen as CinemaCon’s Female Star of the Year.

The kudo will be presented April 18 at CinemaCon’s awards ceremonies at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

McCarthy will star in Fox’s police comedy “The Heat” opposite Sandra Bullock with a June 28 release date.

She can be seen in “Identity Thief” and CBS’ “Mike & Molly.” Feature film credits include “Bridesmaids,” “This Is 40,” “The Back-Up Plan,” “Life as We Know It” and “Pretty Ugly People.”

McCarthy is the lead actress and producer of the upcoming New Line film “Tammy,” which she co-wrote with husband Ben Falcone, who will direct.
