Feig directing, producing 'Susan Cooper'
The actress is in talks to topline the Fox project, the studio confirmed.
Feig began working on “Susan Cooper” as a comic version of James Bond five years ago after seeing “Casino Royale.” He subsequently directed McCarthy in “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat,” which has grossed $156 million worldwide in less than a month.
Feig will direct and produce through his Feigco Entertainment shingle, which signed a first-look deal with Fox earlier this year.
McCarthy has been shooting road-trip comedy “Tammy,” which Warner Bros. has dated for July 2, 2014. The New Line project stars McCarthy, Allison Janney, Susan Sarandon and Mark Duplass; McCarthy is co-directing with spouse Ben Falcone. McCarthy and Falcone are also producing from a script they co-wrote.
The web site The Wrap first reported McCarthy’s attachment to “Susan Cooper.”
McCarthy is repped by CAA.
