Martin Scorsese, Dean Devlin Round Out

Shooting starting on Oct. 28 in Brooklyn

In a pre-American Film Market move, “Dexter” regular David Zayas, Vincenzo Amato, Neal Huff , Mike Starr and rapper Slaine have joined crime drama “The Wannabe” with Martin Scorsese exec producing.

Lensing starts Oct. 28 in Brooklyn with Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment is fully financing the film that stars Patricia Arquette, Vincent Piazza and Michael Imperioli. Producers are Lizzie Nastro and Michael Gasparro.

Electric launched an international theatrical film and TV sales and acquisitions division at the Toronto Film Festival with “The Wannabe” as its first project. Sales will kick off at AFM.

The story is set in New York City during the early 1990s, with Piazza playing a man obsessed with mob culture who attempts to fix the jury in the trial of John Gotti. When his plot is foiled and he’s rejected by the ones he idolizes most, he sets off with a woman (Arquette), who is a neighborhood fixture.
