Pioneering dancer and choreographer was called "the Picasso of dance"

The life rights of Martha Graham, the American modern dancer and choreographer whose influence earned her the moniker “the Picasso of dance,” have been acquired by producer Daniel Dreifuss.

It’s the first project that Dreifuss, a producer on the Oscar-nominated Chilean film “No,” has announced for a new slate that will focus on elevated true stories and nonfiction literary adaptations.

“Most of the projects bring stories with social and political undertones and explore universal themes with an eye for international both commercially and creatively,” Dreifuss said.

Graham, whose career spanned 70 years, impacted generations of choreographers and dancers.

‘This marks the first time Graham’s estate has granted her life rights for a film. Dreifuss, repped by Donaldson & Callif., will begin seeking distribution and financing partners.
