Andy Muschietti in talks to direct the film

Mama” director Andres (Andy) Muschietti is in negotiations to direct “The Mummyreboot at Universal.

Muschietti would replace Len Wiseman, who had to leave the project due to commitments with his TV show “Sleepy Hollow.”

Sean Daniel, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing.

Jon Spaihts wrote the script and the studio still sees the film as a top priority, given the popularity of the previous franchise, which starred Brendan Fraser.

“Mama” was a big over-performer at the B.O., bringing in more than $100 million worldwide after only costing $15 million to make.

Muschietti is repped by Resolution.

  1. Imotep says:

No reboot, continue the story after mummy returns…and discard the third film…bring back imotep and Rachel weisz aka Evy

  2. Imotep says:

    Bring back Imotep!!

  3. Andrew says:

Some what premature , Sill many fans of the recent movies , still associate Brendon Frazer and Stephon Summers with recent reboots . It has been A decade , But the writers they pick are great choices …

  4. NOOOOO REBOOT!! It’s one thing to do sequels & “new adventures with related chars” but a complete “reboot”, ugh nooo stop using that word & trying to recreate things that were fine to start with! True, the third & unspeakably bad last Mummy movie under that name was a ~disgrace, travesty, etc but it did NOT kill the franchise as a whole (the epic, AWESOME first two) so you have NO reason to start it all over! WHY NOT just ~continue onwards after or branch off whatever?? Absolutely NO need to “reboot” from scratch! >.>
