Studiocanal wraps world sales outside U.S.

Studiocanal has pre-sold Ethan and Joel Coen’s “Inside Llewyn Davis” to Italian distrib Lucky Red.

“Davis” has now sold worldwide, save the U.S., where it is repped by UTA and Scott Rudin, and Japan.

Based on the Coen brothers’ original script, “Llewyn” is set amid New York’s Greenwich Village folk music scene in the 1960s and stars Oscar Isaac as a struggling musician, whose character is loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk. Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and stage vet Jeanine Serralles also star.

“Lucky Red is one of the leading independent distributors left in Italy with an expertise in releasing big auteur movies with crossover potential,” said Studiocanal international distribution topper Harold Van Lier, adding that Lucky Red pre-bought the film after watching a teaser the Coens posted online.

At Berlin, Studiocanal bowed sales on Jaume Collet-Serra produced “Mindscape,” which stars Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, and action thriller “El Nino.”

Van Lier said his team has received a raft of offers on “Mindscape” and will close deals in the next 24 hours.

Studiocanal will soon close remaining territories on Michael Winterbottom’s “Look of Love,” and is in negotiations with a U.S. buyer on Jeremy Lovering’s feature debut “In Fear,” per Van Lier.

“Love” played on Sunday at Berlin in the Special program, rolling off its Sundance premiere. IFC will release in the U.S.
