James Harris, Mark Lane to produce Brit pix

LONDON

Lionsgate U.K. has added two British films to its production slate, action thriller “I Am Soldier” and “Green Street Hooligans: Underground.”

James Harris and Mark Lane are producing both alongside Lionsgate through their The Tea Shop & Film Company.

“I Am Soldier” is scripted and helmed by Ronnie Thompson, who co-helmed 2012′s thriller “Tower Block” and scripted and produced 2011 drama “Screwed,” both released in Blighty by Lionsgate.

The film, currently lensing in the U.K. until Feb. 16, stars Tom Hughes, Noel Clarke and Alex Reid. It follows a soldier training for the Special Air Service regiment.

Thompson also scripted “Green Street Hooligans: Underground,” which will be helmed by his “Tower Block” co-director James Nunn.

Lexi Alexander helmed the original soccer hooligan drama, 2005′s “Green Street Hooligans,” which starred Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam. This was followed in 2009 by a DTV sequel helmed by Jesse V. Johnson. The third film, which is in post, stars Scott Adkins, Jack Doolan and Kacey Barnfield.

“It’s been an important part of Lionsgate’s agenda to continue to produce U.K. content and we’re excited to be able to do so with such a great team,” said Nicola Pearcey, who will produce the pics for Lionsgate.
