Shooting on romcom starting in January

Lake Bell will star in the indie romantic comedy “Man Up,” opposite Simon Pegg, with filming set to start in January.

Pegg’s Big Talk Prods. and Studio Canal are the production companies, with Pegg and Nira Park on board to produce. British helmer Ben Palmer (“The Inbetweeners”) is directing.

Bell will portay a single woman who is mistaken for a stranger’s blind date — leading to her finding the perfect boyfriend. Tess Morris wrote the script, which landed on the 2011 Brit List of top unproduced screenplays.

Bell directed, wrote, produced and starred in indie comedy “In a World,” which won the Waldo Salt screenwriting award at Sundance, and has been shooting “Million Dollar Arm” with Jon Hamm and “The Coup” with Owen Wilson.

Bell is repped by UTA and Burstein Company. Palmer is repped by WME.
