Drama premiered at Hamptons film Festival
Strand Releasing has acquired U.S. rights to coming-of-age drama “Refuge,” starring “Breaking Bad” actress Krysten Ritter.
Jessica Goldberg directed the film, based on her play, for producers Jack Heller and Dallas Sonnier of Caliber Media. Gary Cogill and Richard Toussaint exec produced for Lascaux Films.
“Refuge,” which premiered at the Hamptons Film Festival last October, centers on Ritter’s character raising her brother (Logan Huffman) and sister (Madeleine Martin) in a small town after their parents have skipped town, followed by the impact of her picking up a drifter, played by Brian Geraghty.
Ritter’s credits include “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.”
