London — K5 Intl. has boarded doc “Venus and Serena” at Berlin’s EFM. The film, helmed by Maiken Baird and Michelle Major, charts the emergence and rise to global domination of the tennis world’s most formidable and successful siblings, Venus and Serena Williams.Academy Award winning docu filmmaker Alex Gibney serves as executive producer. Grammy Award winner Wyclef Jean handles music. Cinetic handles North American sales. The company has also announced a raft of international sales on “Hunger Games” spoof “The Starving Games,” from helmers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. The comedy, produced and financed by Peter Safran of the Safran Co., previously sold to Wild Bunch for Germany and Falcon in the Middle East. New deals have been inked with Imagem (Latin America), CP Digital (Russia), Nu Metro (South Africa), Shoval (Israel), Cathay (Singapore) and PT Amero Mitra (Indonesia). K5′s “Night Train to Lisbon” receives its world preem in official selection, out of competish, in Berlin on Feb. 13. The film, helmed by Bille August, stars Jeremy Irons, Melanie Laurent and Jack Huston, who will all attend. Concorde will distrib the Studio Hamburg film in Germany. The company also reps Parts & Labor’s docu “Narco Cultura,” which plays in the Panorama Dokumente section.
