Whedon suggests 'X-Men' Quicksilver will not be same for 'Avengers 2'
After confirming that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be in “Avengers 2,” Joss Whedon gave some clarity to why he chose those characters to appear in the next pic on Friday nights Jimmy Fallon Show.
Whedon was plugging his next movie , “Much Ado About Nothing,” and before getting into that film Fallon asked Whedon if he could give them any scoop on the next installment of “The Avengers.” While Whedon didn’t have much news to break he did say that the two characters skill set made them very unique to the Marvel universe. “I found their powers to be very visually interesting,” Whedon explains. “In the last film a lot of the characters had very ‘punchy powers’ where they were always punchy something and that got kind of boring after awhile.”
Whedon added that no one had been cast yet and Fallon followed up by jokingly suggesting Selena Gomez and Channing Tatum.
The news may have been light but it does answer the question of whether Evan Peters, who was cast as Quicksilver in Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” earlier this week, will appear and that answer is probably no since his name isn’t even brought up.
Also, anyone who had high hopes that Saoirse Ronan would play Scarlet Witch will also have to wait a beat. Ronan was recently asked the question of playing Scarlet Witch to which she responded that she would love to play the part.
