Josh Stewart aboard Warner Bros. sci-fi pic with Johnny Depp and Rebecca Hall

Continuing to pick actors from the “Batman” franchise, Wally Pfister has added “Dark Knight Rises” thesp Josh Stewart to his sci-fi pic “Transcendence” starring Johnny Depp.

Paul Bettany and Rebecca Hall also star, with Pfister helming.

Pic will be financed and produced by Alcon Entertainment’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. Warner Bros. will distribute.

Written by Jack Paglen, the screenplay was developed by Annie Marter and Straight Up Films, whose principals include Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen and Regency Boies. Polvino, Marter and Cohen will produce along with David Valdes (“Book of Eli”), Johnson and Kosove. Boies will co-produce.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder will join Christopher Nolan as executive producers.

Pfister was the cinematographer on Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” franchise and, besides Nolan coming on as a producer, has added “Batman” regulars Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy to the cast as well.

Stewart is repped by ICM Partners and played one of Bane’s main henchman in “The Dark Knight Rises.”
