Actioner has been shot in Australia

In a deal on the second day of the American Film Market, Image Entertainment has acquired all U.S. rights to the actioner “Drive Hard,” starring John Cusack and Thomas Jane.

Voltage Pictures is selling international markets at AFM.

“Drive Hard” recently finished production in Australia and is set for a theatrical release next year.

Brian Trenchard-Smith directed from a screenplay by Chad Law and Evan Law, in which Cusack portrays an American thief who arrives in a foreign country in need of a getaway driver. Rather than recruit one from the underworld, he takes a driving lesson from former Formula 1 champion, played by Jane, then robs a bank during the lesson.

The deal was negotiated by Bill Bromiley, Mark Ward and Michael Bayer on behalf of Image Entertainment, and Network Pictures’ Dan Grodnick on behalf of the filmmakers.
