Jimenez finds ‘Voice’

Helmer sets next drama

Chilean helmer Cristian Jimenez, one of the emerging voices of Latin American cinema, is following up Cannes’ Un Certain Regard player “Bonsai” with “Voice Over,” a dramatic dissection of a dysfunctional family’s decline.

Chile’s Jirafa Films and France’s Rouge Intl., who produced “Bonsai,” reteam for “Voice Over,” the second in a three-pic production pact with Jimenez, Jirafa founder Bettati said Saturday at the European Film Market.

Paris-based Rouge Intl. is run by Nadia Turincev and actress-producer Julie Gayet. “Voice Over” was written by Jimenez and Daniel Castro. Ingrid Isense (“Bonsai”) and Maria Sebald co-star in the story of a woman trying to retreat from the world.

It will shoot in downtown Vadivia, Chile. “Voice Over” was put through the Moulin d’Ande screenwriting support program. Miguel Machalski advised on the screenplay.
