Seoul discussion to focus on creativity, Asia-U.S. co-operation

BUSAN – Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO and co-founder of DreamWorks Animation, will debate with “Snowpiercer” director Bong Joon-ho next week in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

The pair will meet at the annual CJ Global Creative Forum, backed by CJ E&M and held at the Sejong University. Bong’s “Snowpiercer” was largely financed by CJ Entertainment.

Bong and Katzenberg are expected to discuss topics including East-West cultural synergies, technology, and entertainment industry development.

Katzenberg and Jennifer Yuh Nelson, director of “Kung Fu Panda 2,” will also participate in a session where animation students pitch cartoon projects.

In its infancy as a media enterprise CJ Entertainment in 1995 was a founder investor in DreamWorks SKG. The share stake was later sold to Paramount.

Bong will Friday be involved in another high profile discussion. He will be part of an on-stage interview with the U.S.’s Quentin Tarantino.
