'The Inbetweeners Movie 2' in production

HONG KONG – A sequel movie to the British comedy series “The Inbetweeners” is now shooting in Australia.

It is being directed by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley and got underway in Queensland on Saturday (Dec. 7, 2013). The crew will return to shoot additional material in the U.K. in January.

A previous “Inbetweeners Movie” was made in 2011 on a budget of $3.5 million and became the highest grossing UK comedy with a box office of $71 million.

The Inbetweeners Movie 2” is produced by Bwark Productions, which is co-financing with Channel 4/Film4. It will be distributed in the U.K. by Entertainment Film Distributors and in Australia by Roadshow Films. Release date is set as Aug. 2014.

The teen friendly comedy about four sex-mad English lads started life in 2008 as a TV series on Channel Four’s spinoff E4.

“We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas. Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country,” the film-makers said on their Facebook page (pictured).

  1. Good news, but Sex obsessed is better than “sex mad”l that implies they have lots of sex, which the show was very clear in showing they did not.
