ICM Partners is formally relaunching its foundation arm with a new focus on aiding orgs devoted to helping youths in L.A. and Gotham.
ICM publishing maven Esther Newberg will chair the renamed ICM Community Partners Foundation and oversee a committee of agents and assistants who will steer the org.
The emphasis will be on channeling resources to arts programs and social service agencies that serve youths. The plan is to create a volunteer program to encourage community service by employees at all levels of the agency.
DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, one of the biz’s most active philanthropists, spoke to staffers at the percentery’s L.A. office on Wednesday morning about the importance of charitable giving. Katzenberg talked to the ICM troops about how he was drawn into heavy-duty showbiz philanthropy by Lew Wasserman, who recruited the then-Disney exec to raise money for the Motion Picture Television Fund home. He also told ICM troops that staying attuned to family concerns, philanthropy and politics makes people better at their jobs.
