Koch had taken leave of absence to serve as Academy prexy

As expected, former Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences prexy Hawk Koch has returned to share president duties of the Producers Guild of America with Mark Gordon.

Koch had taken a leave of absence from the PGA to serve his yearlong term with the Academy. Cheryl Boone Isaacs was elected by the Academy board on July 31 to succeed Koch. Koch is eligible to return to the Academy board after a year’s hiatus.

Gordon and Koch were first elected presidents of the PGA in 2010 and were reelected in 2012.

“We work together extremely well, and we are proud of the Guild’s recent historic achievement in securing the industry-wide adoption of the Producers Mark,” said Mark Gordon and Hawk Koch in a joint statement. ”In the year that lies ahead, we look forward to building on the momentum of that and other successes, such as the recent Produced By conference, once again as presidents of this great guild.”

The six major studios have signed on to implement the Producers Mark, indicated by the letters “p.g.a.” following a motion picture’s “Produced by” credit, the result of a long effort to develop and launch a vetting process that certifies who did the majority of the producing work on a film, while also establishing an authentic seal of approval.

Koch is a longtime national board member of the PGA and has credits on more than 60 films, from “Heaven Can Wait” to “Source Code.” He also serves on the board of the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

Gordon has more than 75 film and TV projects to his credit, most recently adding Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” to the list.

Gordon and Koch became the first duo elected presidents of the PGA, though Kathleen Kennedy and Tim Gibbons served as co-presidents following the PGA’s merger with the American Assn. of Producers.

Other PGA board officers include motion pictures veep Gary Lucchesi, television veep Hayma “Screech” Washington, recording secretary Gale Anne Hurd and treasurer Lori McCreary, with Vance Van Petten serving as national exec director and Susan Sprung as associate national exec director.
