German Pix Showcase Draws 75 Distribs

Market preems include 'Wetlands,' 'Taste of Apple Seeds,' 'Black Brothers,' 'Tomorrow Afternoon I’ll Be Dead'

The German Films Previews, an annual showcase of the latest pics from the Teutonic sales companies, will be attended by 75 international buyers and more than 20 world sales companies, promo org German Films said Thursday. Seventeen films will screen at the event, which runs July 7-10 in Dresden, including seven market premieres.

Buyers attending the event include U.S. distributors Nancy E. Gerstman of Zeitgeist Films and Jeff Lipsky of Adopt Films, Jean-Thomas Bernardini of Brazil’s Imovision, Veronique Crasset of France’s Bac Films, and Luc Freijer of the Netherlands’ Cinemien.

Market preems from The Match Factory are Franziska Buch’s “Adieu Paris,” David F. Wnendt’s “Wetlands” and Sam Garbarski’s “Vijay and I,” while its other screenings include Oskar Roehler’s “Sources of Life.”

Beta Cinema’s market premieres are Holger Haase’s “Quality Time” and Vivian Naefe’s “The Taste of Apple Seeds.” Beta will also screen Janos Szasz’s “The Notebook.”

Global Screen’s market bow is Xavier Koller’s “Black Brothers.” Other screenings include Sandra Nettelbeck’s “Mr. Morgan’s Last Love” and Denis Dercourt’s “A Pact.”

Arri’s market debutant is Frederik Steiner’s “And Tomorrow Afternoon I’ll Be Dead.” Arri also screens Caroline Link’s “Exit Marrakech” and Joachim Masannek’s “V8 — Start Your Engines.”

Other pics screening include Asli Ozge’s “Lifelong” from Films Boutique; Thorsten Klein’s “Lost Place 3D” from Valuetainment; Thomas Bodenstein’s “Knight Rusty 3D” from Sola Media; and Nana Neul’s “Silent Summer” from Picture Tree.

The German sales agents will also show promo-reels for Arne Birkenstock’s “Beltracci – The Art of the False” (Global Screen); Alain Gsponer’s “The Little Ghost” (Arri); Philipp Stoelzl’s “The Physician” (Beta Cinema); Darko Lungulov’s “Monument to Michael Jackson” (Films Boutique); Gunnar Karlsson’s “Ploe – You Never Fly Alone” (Arri); Uberto Pasolini’s “Still Life” (Beta Cinema); and Bernard Rose’s “The Devil’s Violinist” (Beta Cinema).
