Michael Koryta novel will be published in 2014

20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to the Michael Koryta crime novel “Those Who Wish Me Dead.”

Steve Zaillian is on board to produce through his Film Rites banner along with Garrett Basch.

Story follows a teenager who witnesses a brutal murder and is moved into the witness protection program and forced to go on the run from the murderers.

It is unknown if Zaillian will also adapt the screenplay or just produce.

Koryta is becoming a popular author in Hollywood when it comes to crime thrillers. He is currently adapting his tome “So Cold the River” for New Regency and his best-selling novel “The Prophet” was acquired by producer Nick Wechsler with Reid Carolin on board to adapt.

Zaillian recently wrote the Ridley Scott directed Moses pic “Exodus” starring Christian Bale. He is repped by WME.
