'Floating Skyscrapers' Sold Major Territories (EXCLUSIVE)

Films Boutique closes further sales on 'La Jaula de Oro'

Berlin-based sales company Films Boutique has closed several deals on Polish film “Floating Skyscrapers,” which won the best film award in the East of the West section in Karlovy Vary Film Festival last week, after having its world premiere in Tribeca.

The film has been picked up by Artsploitation (U.S.), Outplay (France), Match Box (U.K.), Salzgeber (Germany and Austria) and Xenix (Switzerland).

The pic, which is helmed by Tomasz Wasilewski, and produced by Roman Jarosz and Izabela Igel of Alter Ego Pictures, tells the story of a young man discovering his homosexuality, while his girlfriend tries to cling onto him.

“The film is a very moving piece about everybody’s fight to accept his own identity within a conservative society,” Films Boutique CEO Jean-Christophe Simon said.

La Jaula de Oro,” which is helmed by Diego Quemada Diez, who was for many years Ken Loach’s cinematographer, has also been sold to several territories.

The pic, which won best actor award in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, will be distributed by Pretty Pictures (France), Wild Bunch (Benelux), Golem (Spain), Partenos (Italy), Xenix (Switzerland), Strada Films (Greece), Peccadilo (U.K.), Cirko (Hungary), Fidalgo (Norway), Maison Motion (Taiwan) and offers are still under discussion in the U.S., Germany, Portugal and Latin America.
