New Directors/New Films taps Carruth, Polley
The Color of the Chameleon,” a Bulgarian black comedy from Emil Christov about the secret police. “Upstream Color,” the anticipated follow-up to Carruth’s 2004 debut “Primer,” centers on a kidnapping entwined with a love story. “Tales” reps Polley’s first shift from narrative into documentary with a look at her mother’s life. Also set for ND/NF are Tobias Lindholm’s “A Hijacking,” a Danish pic about a cargo ship seized by pirates; JP Sniadecki and Libbie Dina Cohn’s “Peoples Park,” a look at a Chinese community in a single tracking shot; and Matias Pineiro’s “Viola,” an Argentine movie about a group of actresses caught up in a stage production of “Twelfth Night.”
