Org attempts to streamline process of off-lot shooting

As part of its growth plan, permitting agency FilmL.A. has tapped Art Yoon to a newly created post as exec VP.

Yoon will oversee programs aimed at promoting productive relationships with government and elected officials, producers and community leaders and organizations.

The nonprofit org attempts to streamline the process of offlot shooting by coordinating permits for location shoots in the city of Los Angeles, unincorporated parts of Los Angeles County and other local jurisdictions. The efforts are aimed at keeping production in Southern California.

“Hollywood is California’s signature industry, and its importance to our region’s economy is unmistakable,” Yoon said in a statement. “When I travel and tell people I am from California, the first question everyone asks is ‘Do you know any stars?’ That tells you how much this industry is a part of our common consciousness. Helping Hollywood stay in Hollywood is a challenge I believe in and welcome.”

Yoon has worked at Cox Communications as director of public affairs and on tax-related issues for the California cable industry. He also served as a member of the city council and as mayor of Hermosa Beach and has been a staffer to three Congressional reps and a U.S. Senator.
