Production is currently underway on the film

“American Horror Story” thesp Evan Peters has been tapped as Quicksilver in Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Bryan Singer will direct, with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence returning. Also, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman are reprising their roles as Prof. X and Wolverine.

“Days of Future Past” is based on the 1981 story in the Marvel comic “Uncanny X-Men” and will include characters from the 1960s first class as well as future versions of the original characters.

The CAA-repped Peters can be seen next in the indie “Truck Stop” with Juno Temple.

Singer has Tweeted updates and castings throughout the films production, and did so again with Peters news:

What makes this announcement interesting is that “Avengers” helmer Joss Whedon recently announced that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would appear in “Avengers 2.” “X-Men” rights are controlled by Fox and “The Avengers” goes through Disney, so its unknown whether the two films’ universes will cross-over and whether Whedon will also use Peters for “Avengers 2.”

Do you think Peters is a good choice for Quicksilver? Should Whedon keep him for “Avengers 2”?

  1. Peters is a good choice, but there’s no need for Marvel Studios (I know Disney own them, but it is them not Disney) to cast the same actors as Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch,; or even as the same age. The X-Men versions may be late teens, whilst the Avengers’ versions could be late 20s. The representation of their powers could be significantly different as well. (The Ultimate Marvel version of Quicksilver is significantly faster than the ‘classic’ version. Fox has tended to make its own versions of the classic characters, with slightly altered powers. Marvel Studios, on the other hand, has based its characters on a hybrid of the Ultimate & Classic comics. I’d expect the twins in the MCU to be quite different.

Of course what has been interesting over the past two months is the way that the announcements, from Marvel confirming that, caveats notwithstanding, both Fox & Marvel were allowed to use the twins. Then Singer not saying who his 2 final characters were, then Whedon hinting, then confirming, that the twins would be in the Avengers and now Singer revealing the Twins. Maybe all of this secrecy nd apparent coordination, means some kind of crossover (maybe even a parallel universe) is being set up.
