The Weinstein Co. has set the Ethan Hawke starrer “Regression” for U.S. release on Aug. 28, 2015 — the first film to land on that date.

TWC-Dimension acquired U.S. rights to the project at the American Film Market. Shooting is expected to start in the spring.

Alejandro Amenabar will direct from his own screenplay about a man who has no memory of sexually abusing his daughter, despite charges against him, and who may be part of a nationwide conspiracy. “Regression” will be produced by his longtime partner Fernando Bovaira for his company MOD and by Amenabar’s own Himenoptero banner.

Hawke starred recently in “The Purge,” “Before Midnight” and “The Getaway.” Amenabar’s credits include “The Sea Inside,” which won the foreign-language film Oscar in 2004.

Amenabar’s 2001 film “The Others,” which starred Nicole Kidman, was released by Dimension and grossed more than $200 million worldwide.
