Ex-Spelling exec will work to expand shingle's slate
Escape Artists has promoted 12-year veteran David Bloomfield to partner, where he will focus on developing relationships with independent producers and financiers to expand EA’s production slate.
“We want to partner with independent producers around the globe who have great material,” Bloomfield, who previously served as exec VP, said in a statement. “We have access to talent, strong studio relationships and we make can mutually beneficial deals with our producing partners.”
Previous EA collaborations with indie producers have included “Pursuit of Happyness,” “Knowing,” “Hope Springs” and the upcoming Denzel Washington starrer “The Equalizer.”
EA finances development in some circumstances, including “The Equalizer” and the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence pic “Ends of the Earth” currently set up at the Weinstein Co.
Prior to exec producing pics for EA, Bloomfield served as senior VP of business affairs at Spelling Entertainment.
Bloomfield joins current EA partners Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch. Black and Blumenthal’s production company Black and Blu merged with the Steve Tisch Company in 2001 to form Escape Artists. The indie financier and production shingle currently has a first look non-exclusive deal with Sony.
