Epic Pictures taps Short for foreign sales

Exec will oversee day-to-day operations for the company's foreign sales

Touting an expansion of the production and financing operations, Epic Pictures Group has hired industry veteran John Short as VP of international sales.

Short will oversee day-to-day operations for the company’s foreign sales business and introduce Epic’s slate at the upcoming Filmart in Hong Kong and at Cannes. Toppers Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson stressed that hiring Short will enable them to focus on original productions.

Epic made the announcement just ahead of Monday’s world premiere of its horror project “Big Ass Spider!” at South by Southwest. Ewald and Berenson financed and produced the movie, directed by Mike Mendez and starring Greg Grunberg.

Epic also exec produced “Vikingdom,” acquired horror anthology “V/H/S” and co-exec produced “Mall” with Linkin Park.

Short recently was VP of international sales for Hyde Park Entertainment, where he handled “Bernie,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” and “Our Idiot Brother.” He also worked as VP of YFG Intl.
