Philippe Falardeau set to direct lost boys story

Entertainment One has secured multi-territory rights in all media to upcoming drama “The Good Lie,” starring Reese Witherspoon.

EOne will handle distribution of the film in the U.K., Spain, Benelux and Australia/New Zealand. Lionsgate International represented the international rights at Berlin on behalf of the film’s producers.

“Lie” has Canadian director Philippe Falardeau (“Monsieur Lazhar”) attached.

“The Good Lie” tells the story of a young refugee of the Sudanese Civil War who wins a lottery for relocation to the United States with three other lost boys. They develop an unlikely friendship with a brash American woman (Witherspoon) assigned to help them.

Script is written by Margaret Nagle (“Boardwalk Empire”). Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producers on the film along with Molly Smith and Karen Kahela Sherwood. The film is executive produced by Kim Roth and Deepak Nayar.

The deal was negotiated by eOne’s Lara Thompson.
