Canada’s eOne said Thursday that it has received clearance from the nation’s competition watchdog to move ahead with its approximately $230 million acquisition of Alliance Films.
The deal, which will create the biggest independent film distributor in the U.K. and Canada, was announced Sept. 7.
“The company is now clear to complete the acquisition, which it intends to do as soon as possible,” eOne said.
The merged company has output agreements in Canada with the Weinstein Company, Focus Features and Relativity.
Alliance Film’s slate includes “Looper,” “Dredd,” “Hyde Park on Hudson,” “Anna Karenina,” “Seven Psychopaths” and “Silver Linings Playbook.”
