'Traffic' for remake by Endemol

Hindi thriller to be released by Fox unit

HONG KONG — Endemol India will to make its feature film producing debut having joined Fox Star Studios on upcoming Hindi-language thriller “Traffic.”

The film, which tells multiple stories that collide and become entangled through a traffic accident, is a remake of a 2011 Malayalam-language hit of the same title (see poster image). The original film’s director Rajesh Pillai is again behind the camera. The Hindi adaptation was written by Suresh Nair.

Shooting took place in August on the Mumbai-Pune highway and in Hyderabad with Manoj Bajpai and Jimmy Shergill in the lead roles. The completed film is set for release by Fox Star Studios on March 7.

The film is produced through Endemol India’s specially established film subsidiary Eyedentify Motion Pictures. Fox Star Studio is a 5-year-old joint venture between 21st Century Fox’s units Star Television and 20th Century Fox. It works in partnership with Fox Intl. Productions, the Los Angeles-based foreign-language production unit.

Other cast includes Bengali superstar Prosenjit, Parambrata (“Kaahani”), Divya Dutta, Kitu Gidwani and Sachin Khedekar newcomer Amol Parasher and Vishal Singh.

The film was previously remade in Tamil as “Chennaiyil oru naal.”
