Editors nod to Spielberg

The American Cinema Editors have named Steven Spielberg as their ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year honoree for 2013.

In announcing the honor, the ACE board of directors called Spielberg “a cinematic treasure” and his latest directorial effort, “Lincoln,” “a masterpiece.”

Spielberg’s longtime editor, Michael Kahn, has been nommed for Eddie awards for nine Spielberg pics, including this year’s “Lincoln.” Kahn has won the Eddie for feature film editing for Spielberg’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Schindler’s List” and “Saving Private Ryan.”

The 63rd annual ACE Eddie Awards will be presented Saturday, Feb. 16, at the BevHilton.
