Even with “Fast & Furious 6” still bringing in the dough at the box office, Dwayne Johnson is already gearing up for his next role: Hercules.

On Tuesday, Johnson tweeted a pic that teased his look like for the MGM and Paramount co-production “Hercules: The Thracian Wars.” The photo, taken while he was in make up, teases a grungy hair style and tattoo for the mighty character.

“3 hr daily process w/ multi-time Academy Award nominated hair & make up artists,” Johnson tweeted. “Love the transformation.”

The Brett Ratner-directed actioner looks to be another opportunity for Johnson to show off his larger than life physique in portraying the powerful son of Zeus.

Johnson regularly uses his Twitter feed to give fans a glimpse of his on set training regiment and set photos.

“Hercules,” co-starring Ian McShane (“Deadwood”), hits theaters July 25, 2014.

  1. Dwayne Johnson does not resemble any of the classical Greek images conjured up by artists during the Hellenic age; but neither is the story for this film based on anything but a comic book’s notion of the herculean myth. This movie could avoid appearing as a sequel to Johnson’s THE SCORPION KING, but that would require a Ridley Scott sensibility. Brett Ratner is no Ridley Scott.

  2. Shame, he would have made a perfect Hercules in Marvel Studios’ MCU; assuming they could find a way to fit the Olympians into the MCU of course.

  3. David Lowe says:

The tatoo is Dwayne’s own shoulder tatoo being covered up.
