Drafthouse acquires ‘I Declare War’

Film unit nabs U.S. rights to Toronto pic

Drafthouse Films has acquired U.S. rights to “I Declare War,” directed by Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson, four months after its screening at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.

Produced by Lewin Webb, Robert Wilson and Patrick Cameron from Samaritan Entertainment, the film centers on an epic game of capture-the-flag among young teens.

Drafthouse said it is planning a A VOD and theatrical campaignfor the second half of 2013.

“Not since ‘Stand by Me’ have we experienced such a poignant and sincere film about kids for adults,” said Drafthouse Films CEO Tim League.

The deal was negotiated by James Emanuel Shapiro on behalf of Drafthouse Films and Andrew Herwitz of Film Sales on behalf of the film’s producers.
