‘Dislecksia: The Movie’ Set For October Launch

Dyslexia seen as learning 'difference'

Distribution company Area 23a will launch the documentary “Dislecksia: The Movie” theatrically in the U.S. throughout October in conjunction with National Dyslexia Awareness Month.

Area23a plans theatrical runs in New York on Oct. 4 and Los Angeles on Oct. 11 along with a one-time event  special event screening Oct 2 to kick off a series of regional screenings hosted by film director Harvey Hubbell V, who is dyslexic.

The documentary includes classroom footage and interviews, presenting Hubbell’s belief that dyslexia is a learning “difference” rather than a disability.  The film includes individuals with dyslexia including Billy Bob Thornton, Joe Pantoliano, Stephen J. Cannell, real estate expert Barbara Corcoran, neuroscientists and educators within the dyslexia field.

The deal was negotiated by Mark Litwak on behalf of Captured Time Prods. Paul Cohen of Red Hills Releasing provided consultation on behalf of Captured Time Productions for the acquisition of the film and will deploy the social media marketing campaign for the film.
