The “Cosmopolis” team — director-actor David Cronenberg, novelist Don DeLillo and producer Paolo Branco — are re-uniting on “Body Art,” helmed by Italy’s Luca Guadagnino. Cronenberg will co-star alongside Isabelle Huppert and Denis Lavant in the adaptation of DeLillo’s “The Body Artist.” Branco’s Paris-based Alfama Films is producing, has French distribution rights and will handle international sales. Written by Guadagnino, “Body Art” stars Huppert as a grieving widow who discovers that a stranger is living in her upstairs room. Shooting is scheduled for summer. Alfama will initiate pre-sales at the European Film Market in Berlin next month. Alfama produced Cronenberg-directed Cannes Competition player “Cosmopolis.” Guadagnino directed Italian box office hit “Melissa P.,” but broke through to international attention with the Italo-language, period love story “I Am Love,” starring Tilda Swinton. “Body Art” joins Alfama’s Berlin slate that includes John Malkovich starrer “The Giacomo Variations,” from Austria’s Michael Sturminger, and “Un homme a part,” about a man who inherits his mother’s healing powers, helmed by Gaul’s Francois Dupeyron (“The Officers’ Ward,” “Monsieur Ibrahim”).
