Constantin rocks ‘Status Quo’

Film unit nabs first major territory deal

Constantin Film has picked up Stuart St. Paul’s rock comedy “Bula Quo!” in the first major territory deal for the pic.

The action comedy stars rock legends Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt of Status Quo playing themselves on the run from a gangster, played by Jon Lovitz.

Constantin took all rights for German-speaking Europe. The agreement also includes a first-look option on the sequel, “Namaste Quo,” which St. Paul is set to direct in March on location in India next year.

“Bula Quo!” hits U.K. theaters on July 5 and Status Quo Films are in advanced negotiations on a U.K. and Australian home entertainment rights

deal that would see a DVD and Blu-ray release at the same time as a Live Nation promoted “Bula Quo!” arena tour in early winter.
