Chase catches ‘Tao of Surfing’ wave

Lou Diamond Philips directs the indie drama

Bailey Chase has caught the lead role in indie drama “Tao of Surfing” with Chase’s “Longmire” co-star Lou Diamond Philips directing.

Michael A. Allen and Alex T. Carig are producing the project, which they adapted from Allen’s 2007 book “Tao of Surfing: Finding Depth at Low Tide.”

Chase will star as a champion surfer who unexpectedly returns to Big Sur after years of spiritual solitude. Secretly gay and dying of AIDS, he reunites with his friends and loved ones.

Project will be shot this month in the Santa Cruz area near Big Sur.

A&E’s “Longmire” begins its second season in June. Chase’s other credits include “Damages,” “Saving Grace” and the upcoming thriller “Summoned.”

Chase is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
