Oscarcast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have launched the second annual “Team Oscar” program, in which U.S. college students can submit short videos to win a chance to appear on the March 2 Academy Awards.

This year’s Team Oscar kicked off on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” with DeGeneres and Channing Tatum unveiling the program. Submissions are due by Jan. 5.

Students can enter via the Academy’s Facebook page, by submitting a short video explaining how they will contribute to the future of movies and answering a brief essay question. Winners will deliver Oscar statuettes to celeb presenters at the kudocast which will air live on ABC.

“We were very happy to have created this college program for last year’s show,” Zadan and Meron said in a statement. “With Channing Tatum set to help us discover a new group of talented young filmmakers and ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on board to chronicle their stories, we feel Team Oscar will be more rewarding and exciting than ever.”

Zadan, Meron, Tatum and Academy reps will pick a minimum of six winners, who will be flown to Los Angeles for ceremonies at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Tatum will return to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in early 2014 to announce the Team Oscar winners.
