CBS Taps John Orlando to Lead

John Orlando has been tapped as executive vice president of government affairs for CBS Corp., succeeding Martin Franks, whose retirement as head of the D.C. office became effective earlier this week.

Orlando will report to CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves. He will oversee the company’s activities there, as well as with state and local governments.

Orlando joined CBS in early 2006 as senior vice president, Washington, and also has been CBS’s lead lobbyist, the principal contact with Congress and the administration.

“At a time when the media landscape is in constant change, having someone as knowledgeable as John is about our company and the industry is invaluable,” Moonves said.

Orlando formerly was head of the government relations department at the National Assn. of Broadcasters. He had a previous stint at CBS as vice president, Washington, and also was a vice president and principal at the DC lobbying firm Timmons and Company.
