Cassi Thomson Replaces Ashley Tisdale in Nicolas Cage Pic ‘Left Behind’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Faith-based project shooting in Louisiana

Cassi Thomson (“Switched at Birth,” “Big Love”) has replaced Ashley Tisdale in “Left Behind” opposite Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray and Jordin Sparks.

Stoney Lake Entertainment, led by Paul Lalonde of faith-oriented banner Cloud Ten Pictures, is producing along with Jason Hewitt of Films in Motion and Michael Walker. Film began shooting Friday in Baton Rouge, La., with Vic Armstrong directing and John Patus penning script.

The “Left Behind” reboot will follow a group of survivors during the first few hours after millions of people around the globe simply vanish without warning.

Cage is playing the pilot of a jumbo jet, trying to calm his hysterical passengers. Thomson is portraying his daughter trying to find her mother and brother in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Sparks portrays a passenger.

Martin Klebba and Nicky Whelan are also starring. The “Left Behind” franchise is based on the series of books written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins that have sold more than 65 million copies worldwide.

The project was first shopped at the 2012 American Film Market. A 2001 film version of “Left Behind” starred Kirk Cameron.

Thomson is repped by  Innovative Artists.

    This will be a great movie. I worked with Nicholas Cage on the movie “Joe”. We got to talk some after a day of filming, Nicholas came over to me abduction said, “You did good Jon” That meant a lot to me. We talked awhile and he was humble. I can see why he is a Superstar. People feel and see his humanity…they relate to him
